Grayson McDiarmid is the Wine Director at Play food and wine. Grayson has been working in restaurants since he was legally allowed to, starting at a small pub in Wales. He worked at many restaurants in Calgary where he got bitten by the wine bug. He studied wine through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust finishing with a distinction award in the Advanced unit.

While studying wine, Grayson worked in a fine dining restaurant and in an independent wine shop. He then returned home to Ottawa where he became the Sommelier for the CAA/AAA 4 diamond property, The Brookstreet Hotel, and worked there until Steve Beckta decided to look for Play’s Wine Director. Grayson was Play’s first employee and helped (sometimes

comically) with its construction. In addition to working at Play, Grayson also teaches the Advanced portion at the Algonquin College Sommelier program.
